When we founded this agency over 16 years ago, we set out to do something different. We wanted to create an agency that put our clients and their challenges headfirst – as a team.

We understand that you can’t jam a prescriptive service down someone’s throat just because it fits your agenda. Instead, we made the decision to work together with our clients to discover and define the best solutions to address their individual needs.

There are two ways to approach media: outspend, or outsmart. At Zozimus, we believe the latter is the optimal approach, even if a partner is able to outspend competitors. We believe that identifying the right audience and data driven targeting helps our clients win. That speed to market and being nimble gives our clients an advantage over competitors whose media campaigns are being managed by holding companies. 

To achieve our goals, it was important to us to build an amazing bench of talent. This includes our core in-house team, as well as our trusted partners. It’s important to be able to move quickly, collaborate strongly, and adapt at any moment. It’s a vital part of our business, and our team spends a considerable amount of time recruiting the top thought leaders in the industry to help us build a powerhouse team.

Meet the Team

AJ Gerritson

Senior Partner

AJ is steadfastly committed to the belief that the best branding always starts with clearly defining the “Why”. Back in 2004, when AJ co-founded the agency, it existed to help clients grow their sales and awareness in the market. Today, AJ oversees the strategic direction as well as sales and marketing efforts. He brings more than 18 years of experience to apply the perfect mix of strategy and creative to make client’s dreams come true everyday.

When he’s not working with clients, you can catch AJ cooking up something yummy for his friends and family, or bragging about his time playing professional rugby.

Nick Lowe

Senior Partner

Nick is focused on building an elite team of experts that can do extraordinary work for our clients. Since founding Zozimus, the agency has grown steadily to a full-service offerings supported by industry veterans and rising stars alike. Nick has spent a lot of time building an organization and structure that can scale, but it’s his involvement in key client projects that makes him most excited.

When he’s not making his client’s dreams come true, you can find Nick sipping on a fine California wine, or cooking up something yummy in the kitchen with his kids.

Thomas Lee

Senior Partner

Tom is focused on refining and discovering the dreams of clients, while finding the perfect mix of strategic magic. Tom originally joined Zozimus as a senior partner, to head up the public relations sector of the business after years of success in the field. Today, Tom is focused on growing Zozimus with intent and efficiency, by focusing on adding talented thought leaders to the Zoz team, and continuing to explore new industries garnering new clients.

When he’s not working with clients, you can catch Tom cheering on his daughter’s sports games or reminiscing about his time in the USA U19 National Rugby team.

Jake Garber

SVP, Strategy and Planning

Jake majored in Psychology and Sociology at Bates College, where he was also a member of the Brooks Quimby Debate Council. Jake was lucky enough to get a summer internship at AMP Agency while in college, which eventually turned into a full-time job. He spent four years traveling the country moderating focus groups, conducting ethnographies, and helping small to large clients with a range of marketing and business opportunities from beer to sneakers to ice cream to toys. He then joined Digitas and spent over 12 years improving his strategic, digital, and leadership skills. He worked on Fortune 500 clients in automotive, financial services, QSR, and energy.

He was recruited to join Zozimus to establish and run the strategy and planning department, an offering that is normally only found at much larger agencies. He has spent the past 4+ years helping clients across all different industries establish their brand, understand their target audience and create marketing and advertising that drives business results.

If he ever leaves the marketing industry he aspires to host The Price Is Right.

David Wilson

EVP, Digital Marketing & Analytics

David has more than 20 years working in digital marketing, covering in-house for a variety of companies, agencies and running his own digital marketing company. He has worked on Fortune 500 clients in the Pharmaceutical , CPG, Financial Services, and Healthcare verticals.

David brings a passion for proven results to the Zozimus digital marketing team. When asked what he likes about his job, David says that “every day his team has metrics that they are trying to hit for clients. At midnight the scoreboard gets set back to zero and we either hit our goals or we didn’t.”

Fun fact. David used to cover the Italian soccer team Inter Milan for ESPN FC.

Valerie Amenta

VP, Public Relations

Growing up she aspired to be Lois Lane. Valerie Amenta is strategic storyteller at heart. She appreciates the powerful influence an impactful story can have on a person’s outlook and behavior and knows: “facts tell, but stories sell.” Valerie is a seasoned communications executive with extensive consumer, entertainment, corporate and non-profit experience, successful in assessing client needs and developing business growth strategies. Responsible for creating and executing integrated public relations campaigns, Valerie garners consistent positive media placement for clients on a local and national level.

Prior to joining Zozimus, Valerie served as a Senior Account Executive at Regan Communications managing strategic communications and account management services for the agency’s marquee accounts including the Boston Celtics, Dunkin’ Donuts, Mohegan Sun, New Balance and Cumberland Farms.

Val spends the weekends with her family getting bossed around by a toddler and kindergartener.

Michael O’Neill

Executive Vice President

From a large corporate financial services career, to loving life at an entrepreneurial agency, Michael can relate to the rapidly evolving landscape many of our clients work through.  Often describing his Zozimus role as a “UN translator”, Michael is just as likely to be explaining our creative process to a client as he is explaining the nuances of banking, insurance or education to our specialists.

A life-long Bostonian, which becomes abundantly clear as soon as he speaks, Michael served in a variety of increasing senior leadership roles in some of Boston’s top financial institutions, including US Trust, Citizens, Bank of America and SBLI, before moving to Zozimus to first develop our financial service practice.  However, his deep community involvement, which is primarily focused on serving as one of the longest serving appointed members of the Boston School Committee, and as a past Chair of the Council of the Great City Schools, a national education organization, has also led to significant expertise and a large network to help our educational clients as well. Creating opportunities, connecting people and companies and growing a client’s business and bottom line are what moves Michael, especially when that helps a community and region grow as well.

Michael truly believes that doing well and doing good are not mutually exclusive and gets fired up best when those goals can both be met. He shares that belief with his wife, as well as a love of travel, skiing, running and other sports, which keep both of them always on-to-go, as does their family!

Erin Brewer

Marketing Manager

Born and raised in Massachusetts, and a fellow UMass Amherst alum, Erin is a creative focused marketing professional. Starting her career at a small start-up in Cambridge, MA, it was there that Erin learned the importance of having visibility to every department and expressing her ideas across functions. Throughout her career she has had the opportunity to work amongst C-suite and senior professionals to analyze and iterate brand identity, product creation/launches, marketing campaigns, and brand assets – with a focus on creative and the power of copy. Erin has industry experience in SaaS, B2B, direct sales, wine/alcohol marketing, and marketing agencies.

Erin lives in Georgetown, MA with her husband and 2 very fluffy cats. When she’s not creating new content for Zozimus, you can find her reading a new book or on the beach with her besties.

Stacy Walsh

Director of Human Resources and Operations

Stacy joined the team back when it was known as 451 Marketing as an Executive Assistant in 2016 where she learned the agency inside out. From there she seamlessly stepped into the role of Operations Manager. Most recently she was promoted to Director of Operations and Human Resources. An important part of every business is company culture. Zoz is no different and she works routinely to connect everyone in their current remote environment. High emotional intelligence, empathy, and keen desire to help everyone succeed in their roles sets Stacy apart from others in the industry.

Having spent most of her career in the hospitality industry prior to Zoz, one might say Stacy is the queen of affability. This part of her career prepared her well for her current role. She truly cares about how people are treated and making people happy. One of her biggest assets is out of the box thinking.

When she’s not busy with all things Zozimus she makes the most of the summer, spending time at the beach. She’s known to jump on the Peloton mid-day to sweat it out. Stacy also has spent the past two years as a foster parent in MA.
