Email Marketing Best Practices

Connecting with consumers and retargeting messages is essential to marketing success. Email marketing is a vital part of a marketer’s “tool kit”. Whether you’re a seasoned expert or novice, we’ve collected our essential email marketing tips and best practices for your next marketing campaign. Let’s get started!

Personalized Messaging

It’s not new information that consumers are craving connection and personalization. When creating your email, how can you find a way to make it personal to each audience member? This could be through including their first name, or if you’re in the e-commerce space that could be items from their shopping cart or wish list.

Consider the behavior of those on your email list. For those that engage with your emails on a regular basis, create hyper-focused content targeted personalized messaging. For members who rarely open or engage with your emails, perhaps a re-engagement campaign is necessary – what content would get these members re-engaged?

Quality Over Quantity

We’ve all been victims of joining an email list and then being bombarded with several emails in a single day. When planning out your email marketing schedule it’s essential to focus on high quality content and messaging that will connect with your audience and create consistent engagement.

Creating your content plan for each month should focus on different content pillars that connect with your brand and more importantly, your audience. This content should feel engaging, fresh, and interesting – not to mention a killer hook to get the email opened.

Clicks and Landing Pages

When designing an email, all marketers have the same goal: clicks. Clicks are the name of the game, but how can you get them without feeling demanding? The aim is to create content or offers that are so interesting and engaging that users feel inclined to click without being pushed.

Now you’ve gotten them to click, but did the link they clicked bring them exactly where you intend them to go? It’s vital that all links make sense for the consumer. For example, if you show an image of a product in the email that should link directly to that product, not an additional landing page. The goal is to keep your consumers engaged, so avoid any activity that could create a bounce.
