At Zozimus, our team is a fundamental part of who we are and how we shine everyday. The foundation of our team is built on industry thought leaders, cross-functional collaborators, and people that are a whole lot of fun to work with. In this blog series, we take a deeper look at the three senior Zozimus partners and explore where they’ve been, how Zozimus came to be, and how they plan to make dreams come true into the future. Next in this series is Senior Partner, AJ Gerritson.
Creating Zozimus Agency
Meet AJ Gerritson, one of three senior partners at Zozimus Agency. AJ attended UMass Amherst, Class of ‘99, with a degree in journalism and a minor in political science.
AJ’s career first began as a recruiter, and then moving onto a startup online food retailer selling Asian cuisine, all before pursuing his dream in working in digital marketing. AJ began his digital marketing career at Zeeo Interactive. While AJ headed up the sales and marketing at the company, it was at Zeeo that AJ met future Zozimus partner, Nick Lowe.
AJ and Nick eventually put their forces together, starting their own digital marketing company 451 Marketing. The newly started digital marketing company first started in the outskirts of the greater Boston area before finally relocating to downtown Boston. During the company’s come up, future partner Tom Lee joined the team in 2007, kicking off the public relations team at 451 Marketing, now known as Zozimus.
When remarketing to Zozimus, it was AJ that came up with the idea for the name Zozimus, gaining inspiration from the Roald Dahl book, “The BFG”. The literal meaning for the company’s name is “the stuff that dreams are made of”, a fundamental through line at Zozimus. When questioned about the rebranding of the company, AJ answered, “We really evolved as a company from just digital marketing and it was up to us to show our clients why we truly existed.”
Dreaming Bigger, Together
AJ has truly enjoyed his time managing Zozimus with Nick and Tom thus far, stating he wouldn’t “do anything differently”. Throughout his time at Zozimus, AJ has focused on making sure the company delivers for clients the highest quality deliverables possible. The team at Zozimus are aligned with the same goals and views in mind when it comes to the priority of the company – its clients.
In the years to come, AJ is confident the company will continue to expand in areas such as hospitality and higher education in their new business verticals. Zozimus is excited to specialize in more industry verticals as we continue to grow and making our clients dreams come true.
Fun Fact: AJ played professional rugby in Ireland.
